Rolls-Royce Supports EAA Flight Training Scholarships

August 9, 2011 — Rolls-Royce will continue to help Young Eagles achieve their dreams by supporting the EAA Young Eagles Scholarship Program. Young Eagles scholarships fund flying lessons and flight experiences for deserving teenage student pilots interested in aviation and aviation careers.

Rolls-Royce flight-training scholarships will be awarded to six students who have completed the majority of the online Sporty’s Complete Pilot Training Course. These flight awards are valued at $1,500. Additionally, Rolls-Royce will provide one Young Eagle with a $7,500 scholarship to be used toward a private pilot certificate.

“Rolls-Royce is excited to sponsor this worthy scholarship program for young aviators,” said Ken Roberts, president of helicopters at Rolls-Royce. “EAA Young Eagles represents education, aviation, and passion for flight. We are proud of the students who receive these scholarships and, like them, we share a passion for aviation.”

The scholarships will be awarded throughout the year. Scholarship winners are chosen by an EAA scholarship committee.

“The excitement and passion for flight is very strong among young people, and these scholarships will allow them to fulfill those dreams,” said Rod Hightower, EAA President and CEO. “Rolls-Royce understands that it’s essential to support young people trying to reach their aviation goals, and EAA very much appreciates the company’s commitment to the future of flight.”

Rolls-Royce has been a participant at EAA events for more than 20 years.
