Back Home Again!

Boise, Idaho – July 5, 2005 – Boise pilot Jared Aicher finished Phase 1 of “The Eagle Flight” on June 28, giving more than 100 children a free airplane ride.

Jared Aicher returned home at 2:53 p.m. on June 28, after spending 33 days traveling to 44 of the lower 48 United States and giving kids a free EAA Young Eagles flight.

“It was an incredible opportunity to give back to something that has given so much to me throughout my life,” Aicher said. “The journey was an incredible success. I am looking forward to starting Phase 2.”

After some rest, Jared will start planning Phase 2, which will begin in spring 2006 and take him around the world where he plans to give another 100 to 200 children an airplane ride.

Phase 1 had Jared cover about 10,500 miles, or nearly halfway around the world at the equator. On average, he flew his Cessna 172 five to seven hours daily.

His last flight took off on June 28 when he left Eugene, Oregon about 6:30 a.m. and landed in Wenatchee, Washington to give his last Young Eagle flights of Phase 1. There, three youths went up with Aicher, flying over the Columbia River and the town of Wenatchee before returning to the airport.
At 11 a.m., Aicher departed for his final destination, Boise, landing seven minutes early.
