Equipment donated to EAA KidVenture

Fort Worth, Texas – March 3, 2006 – Because of the generosity of Bob Avery, president of Avery Tools in Fort Worth, Texas, the EAA KidVenture tent will be outfitted with top-of-the-line equipment this summer during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006.

This year’s big hands-on project is building of
miniature airplane wings. Through this activity, participants will learn the skills and technique needed for riveting. After reading about the project on www.airventure.org, Avery offered to supply the necessary tools.

Avery sent a catalog to the KidVenture Chairman, Dan Majka, to pick out whatever items the kids would need. The total cost of the tools comes to nearly $3,000.

“What better way to get young people started in riveting,” Avery said. Some of the items that will be supplied are X rivet guns and hoses, Powerlink pull rivet tools, shank rivet sets, bucking bars, clecos and cleco pliers, clamps, organizers for parts, and drills.

First flying to AirVenture in 1985, Avery became an exhibitor in 1986 and has continued each year since. Avery Tools has now moved to a new 9,000 square-foot building on Hicks Airfield and currently employs 12 full- and part-time employees. The company is in its 20th year of business, which began with EAA and the annual Oshkosh fly-in. “It’s kind of amazing. Had I not gone to Oshkosh, we would not be where we are today,” Avery said.

Van’s Aircraft is supplying the wing kits for KidVenture this summer. “It’s been quite a deal seeing Van’s grow and we’ve grown up right along with them,” said Avery.
