Rebecca Martin, a high school student from Duluth, Minnesota, went for her Young Eagles Flight with Al White of EAA Chapter 272. He later received the following letter of thanks:
Dear Mr. White,
My name is Rebecca Martin from Duluth, Minnesota. On the date of March 5, 2005, I was ever so lucky to have gotten the experience to fly in your airplane, the Luscombe 8A. I would like to thank you so very much. I had always wanted to be a pilot, and still do, but I had never gotten to experience the glorious feel of flight. It was like a breath of fresh air, and it only boosted my passion for flight more. It also encouraged me to enjoy flight and piloting as a career after college, and the Air National Guard. I am 17, and finishing up my last year at Denfeld High School. Without you and your contributing to the Young Eagles and the Sky Harbor Airport, I wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to fly. My dreams are slowly coming true, and I’d like to thank you for being a huge part of them, I really appreciate it. That day will always stay close to me in my heart and mind and continue to inspire me throughout my life as my first flight; my awakening. Thank you again and best wishes.
Sincerely,
Rebecca A. Martin
Future Pilot
